Success Stories
Leila Moore, PT has been very patient with me, having to deal with several issues which include medical issues some of which have made it difficult for me to walk and do things I used to enjoy doing. I have had many set backs and Leila has brought me through them all. Each set back, she has brought me back to where I was prior to being hospitalized, having falls and other stressful situations. Personally in the office, Mary Smith, PT and Colleen in the office are also kind and helpful. The owner is frequently seen at the office. I would recommend Onondaga PT to anyone and everyone.
Rich Sikorski - Baldwinsville, NY 08/16/12
I was pleased with my instruction and care at Onondaga PT. My reason for partaking in PT was that I had very poor upper-body strength. When I had begun to use weights in the past or on my own, I would experience pain in my chest and elbows causing me to stop for a while. Fearing the same results, I would stop doing anything. Then I went to PT and I was shown what to do, what to use and how to go about it. I did not have any discomfort during what I was shown through therapy. I have finished with my time at the office and have been continuing my “work-outs” at home, and I might add - WILLINGLY!!
M.E - Baldwinsville, NY 08/06/12
Onondaga PT helped me recover after surgery to repair a torn meniscus in my right knee. From the first visit to the last, the staff was professional and they were good teachers. They answered all of my questions for pre-surgery preparation and for post-surgery home exercises.
Leila Moore was my primary PT. She listened well, changed exercises and home program activities with a good progression. I was well challenged and Leila helped meet the recovery goals.
I am running again and look forward to more miles with smarter preparation in stretching and strengthening exercises to hopefully not repeat the injury again.
R.S - Liverpool, NY 07/24/12
I noticed Onondaga Physical Therapy inside the Onondaga Fitness Center when I began working out there and thought “what a great idea!” since when physical therapy ends most people don’t continue exercising. Although a patient isn't required to join the fitness center, there is a suggestion that it is a good idea and the patient is already familiar with the equipment.
When I started physical therapy I had substantial pain and swelling in my left knee (my most recent arthroscopic surgery site) and my balance was very poor. I was hoping that PT would help to avoid further surgery and allow me to go on vacation and participate in activities.
I was pleased when I was allowed to do the same lifting and other exercises with both legs and other joints which promotes equalizing strength (something I was not allowed to do in previous therapy settings).
My recovery is rather remarkable-pain is gone and no swelling. My balance is much improved but something to continue to make further progress. I am still exercising at the fitness club and am allowed to use some of the PT equipment as needed.
I have already recommended Onondaga Physical Therapy to my surgeon, Dr. Cooke and his staff, and would be willing to recommend Onondaga Physical Therapy to anyone.
Norma T.-Syracuse, NY 7/16/12
I am very satisfied with the care I recieved for my shoulder therapy. I had a spur removed and I am relatively pain free and have good range of motion. Garry Campbell was my therapist and he was very accommodating with my hectic schedule. I would recommend OPT to anyone!
Karen Juszek- Cicero, NY 5/25/12
I have been going to Onondaga Physical Therapy for a long time. Mary and Leila are the greatest. I would recommend this place to anyone. They have always helped and cured my problems.
B.G - Baldwinsville, NY 05/16/12
This was my second time for treatment at OPT and would come back again if needed. I have sent family and friends to them for treatment and all were pleased with their results. The staff is caring, attentive and works with you. They understand that everyone is an individual and treated that way. Even though I knew it was going to be tough, I looked forward to seeing the staff and other patients. They stay in contact with your doctor for positive progress in your healing process.
I wish them continued success and will see them again if I need them. Thank you all for being so compassionate and caring.
S. Branchau - Baldwinsville, NY 04/26/12
I guess you would call me a repeat customer or, better yet, patient. I have been going to Onondaga PT for 3 or more years for an assortment of physical ailments-some due to typical changes in my bones due to age and other physiological changes in my body. The latest occurrence is with my patella (knee cap) moving out of place and at times causing extreme discomfort and pain. Through a series of “new” exercises and manipulation I am able to say at this time I have minimal pain. I like Onondaga PT because they actually work on your body (hands on) and not just the typical “Here’s your exercises, now go do them.”
D.B.-Syracuse, NY 3/27/12
I was falling everywhere: stairs, snow banks, [getting in and out of ]the car, and couldn’t get up! Calling for help was embarrassing. Since PT with Rachel, I’ve given up my wheelchair and canes. Rachel helped me with balance and muscle exercises and gave me confidence. I even conquered falling out of bed!! If PT worked for me, and it can work for you!!
Nancy Kelly-Syracuse, NY 3/14/12
This has been my third time as a client of yours. I chose this site because it is close to my Nedrow home and because I have been impressed with the quality of care given to me by the therapists. I was previously treated for arthritis, especially in my legs.
I was referred this time following back surgery on L1 and also for a broken L3, following a fall at home. I was assigned to Rachel and had appointments twice a week starting in November of 2011.
Rachel proved to be very qualified and showed me various exercises to utilize and strengthen the same muscles, thus avoiding boredom. When I had an ache or a pain she was able to assess which muscles were involved and developed alternative exercises. During the course of time, I fell again at home. Rachel gave me a very thorough assessment to determine if I re-injured anything, which I did not.
I think I reached my maximum benefit under Rachel’s expertise. Should I need it again, I would return.
S.S - Syracuse, NY 3/7/12
I’ve had pain in my shoulder for a couple of years since an injury and my first experience with physical therapy elsewhere. Finally, I decided to do something about it, and on recommendation came to the Onondaga Hill location. Erin was great. She explained what she thought the problem was and her plan of attack. She was engaged with my recovery rather than just hooking me up to a machine and leaving me to read. Cheerful always, and yet demanding, but listening always to my comments and questions so I didn't get pushed too far. The result is that I didn’t give up, I didn't leave prematurely thinking I could do all the same things at home (which I could have but without the encouragement, and the valuable feedback), and I’m really 100%. Thank You!
Eileen A. - Syracuse, NY 2/27/12
I began my physical therapy at Onondaga Physical Therapy on October 28th and completed my therapy on February 15th. I was there because of knee surgery and an ensuing infection. Leila was my primary therapist. Both she and Mary were very professional and encouraging. My healing had been slow, but they kept my spirits up and my goals on track. I credit them with the progress that I’ve made...walker to crutches, to cane, to nothing! My experience with them was very positive and motivating.
Andy Olson - Baldwinsville, NY 02/20/12
I can’t say enough good things about Onondaga Physical Therapy. The staff is the best at what they do. My last round of visits (I have been in the past for a couple of other issues) was for a bit of a stubborn problem with my neck. Mary spent time between visits doing extra research to try to eliminate the pain I was having. The treatment is the best and I love how comfortable the atmosphere is. I have recommended your practice to several people and I would not hesitate to come back myself if I needed it.
T.C - Baldwinsville, NY 1/12/12
My knee problem wasn’t as bad as many PT issues go, however, Erin Malay was great at her craft! She patiently went over the exercises with me. Her personality made coming to PT a very pleasant experience. Since ending PT my knee has only popped out once-not bad!!
A.A. - Syracuse, NY 1/18/12
Just a hearty thank you for your “aggressive” care following all my surgical procedures. All my rehabs were very meaningful and successful. My doctors have been more than pleased with the pace of rehabs and communication of my progress and concerns.
Carol Moss - Syracuse, NY 1/10/12
The physical therapists at OPT are consistently knowledgeable, professional, caring and personable. They attend to clients needs on a highly individualized basis. I have been a client of OPT multiple times and highly recommend their services.
Susan Rush - Syracuse, NY 1/4/12
I was prescribed therapy by my doctor. To be honest with you, I had been to therapy before (not here) and it never worked, but this has worked for my neck. I had Leila & Paula and I must say my neck has improved 80-90%.I liked the whole establishment. Colleen & Mary were very nice also. The people who work here are very nice to all patients. They work as a team. I actually enjoyed my visits. I want to thank Leila for her services and hope she has Happy & Safe Holidays. Thanks again!
Tina Butler - Baldwinsville, NY 10/18/11
In May of this year (2011) I started physical therapy due to arthritis and falling on my R knee. I had limited activity and had to use a cane inside and outside of my house. Therapy has helped me so much-so far it has prevented knee surgery, I can now drive my car, do my housework, stand longer, sleep better, and I am able to do moderate activities with less pain for which I’m grateful for. I still have to use my cane for walking distances, but I feel much more secure doing so. I was discharged in Oct. 2011. and I still continue w/ my daily exercise at home.
C.T. - Syracuse, NY 10/19/11
Rachel was the most hands on Physical Therapist I have ever had experience with. Too often you are left alone to do pretty much everything by yourself.
N.M.-Syracuse,NY 9/26/11
I have been to Onondaga P.T. on several occasions for various reasons. Each time I was greeted warmly and felt I was in the best of hands. Everyone was confident in their jobs, and I left in the best condition from my injury. My most recent injury was bursitis in my hip. After several sessions I was ready to run a race. Just kidding-I’m 90!!!
Reinaldah Hartmann-Syracuse,NY 9/23/11
I have been treated at Onondaga Physical Therapy three separate times - two times with hip replacements and most recently with an upper arm break. The staff is wonderful - friendly, caring, with individualized treatment and explanation about why, how, etc.
Thank you all!
E.C - Baldwinsville, NY 9/22/11
My treatments for a fractured pelvis were invaluable to my full recovery. I was completely dependent on a walker when I arrived at Onondaga Physical Therapy. With the professional help of Lauris Rigdon, I was able to walk again without assistance. I was able to regain my strength and balance. It was a long process as healing takes time and work. The workouts I had with Erin built my strength and balance to the point that I am back to work with no pain and a feeling I am normal again. Thanks to the staff at OPT I can lead a normal life and enjoy the things I do.
Lloyd B. Osgood, Syracuse 9/8/11
It is indeed a sincere pleasure for me to highly recommend Onondaga Physical Therapy. In my situation, I was losing control and strength in my arms to such an extent that I was about to retire from my piano tuning and rebuilding business. X-rays at the V.A. showed a touch of arthritis at the back of my neck. My private physician, Dr. Polachek, recommended a course of treatment at your facility. I readily agreed, and after 13 one hours visits I was as good as new. Jennifer, my therapist, was all I could wish for, she really knew her stuff and did this profession proud. Thank you all so very much.
Robert Sharp, Syracuse 9/6/11
I recently returned to Onondaga Physical Therapy for my back. I would not go anywhere else, because everyone is always so nice and helpful. Jen is the best PT that I have ever worked with! I highly recommend it to my friends and colleagues who need physical therapy. Thank for everything!!
Kathryn Lent, Syracuse 8/17/11
Never having gone to PT before, I wasn’t sure what to expect when walking in the door. It didn’t take long for the staff at OPT to ease my nerves and get me into the motion of healing. They made me feel as if I had been there for years, as if I was part of their family.
I came to OPT to rehab an ankle that I had injured. My PT sat down with me and discussed the injury in full to make sure she understood completely what I had done and to plan out a rehab program specifically designed for me, not just some standard “one size fits all” program, which showed me they really cared and strive to treat each patient as individuals. They set me up with a personal program that was challenging but worth it. By the end of my time at OPT my once injured ankle was back to 100% and actually stronger and more flexible than my non-injured ankle! I owe it all to OPT and their wonderful staff.
P.C - Baldwinsville, NY 7/31/11
Mary was my PT and I have only wonderful things to say about her.
1. She always greeted me with a smile
2. She scheduled my appointments conveniently.
3. She always listed to my concerns/comments regarding my condition.
4. She made excellent evaluation of my condition - important because my doctor sent me for PT without a diagnosis, so I didn’t really know what was going on until Mary evaluated.
5. She always used the utmost professionalism at every appointment and was very attentive.
6. She gave clear and precise directions as to what I should do in between appointments.
7. She told me I could always come back with any questions, even after I finished my PT with her.
8. She gave me a graduation T-shirt at the conclusion of my PT! :)
Thank you!
Sandee Dain - Baldwinsville, NY 7/15/11
Dear Friends at Onondaga Physical Therapy,
Thank you so much for your guidance and help during my recent physical therapy sessions. From Lauris’ diagnosis and exercise regimen, through Leila’s continuous positive reinforcement and guidance, to Mary’s bright smile and Hello’s - all of my care was excellent. Your exercises and assistance has enabled me to have a pain-free leg. This was an experience I had to get used to! I keep waiting for it to hurt, but because of your exercises, it doesn’t! This is a wonderful relief!
Thank you again for all of your help and knowledge regarding my muscles how to keep them healthy. If anything messes up again, I’ll be back!
Lorraine M. - Baldwinsville, NY 7/6/11
After three visits to the doctors and being on two meds for pain, my doctor set me with PT. From the first when I met Lauris Rigdon, I just felt like I was in good hands (Better than Allstate). Mr. Rigdon questioned me about my severe back pain and started stretching & massage that had an immediate, positive effect. After results from an MRI came back we put a name to my back pain - Lumbar Spinal Stenosis. They added some exercises & stretches. I started seeing Leila Moore, PT who was equally knowledgeable. I started working out on the exercycle to increase my range of motion and rebuild atrophied muscles. Within about three weeks I went from difficulty walking and taking the maximum pain meds, to a more normal gait and pretty much off the pain meds. Leila took over took over and followed upon Lauris’ plan. She added her own touches, constant encouragement, making sure I did the exercises correctly. Everyone at Onondaga PT was friendly, polite and encouraging. Thank you Lauris, Leila, Mary, Cindy & Colleen!
James Nelson - Baldwinsville, NY 6/8/11
I originally went to your facility on a recommendation from a friend who had been a patient the Baldwinsville office. I received excellent care from Leila Moore. She was professional and at the same time personable and very caring. She helped regain the full use of my right hand after surgery, and I am very grateful for having been at your facility.
A.S - Baldwinsville, NY 5/25/11
I have used Onondaga Physical Therapy twice. Everyone is always nice and very helpful. My husband goes there and has been helped also. We both would recommend your place to anyone.
Betty G. - Warners, NY 5/19/11
The people here are very dedicated to helping with your problem and do their very best to help. They are very knowledgeable about what will help. I think they are great! I wouldn’t be without them! They helped both me and my wife. Thanks again!
Ralph W. - Baldwinsville, NY 5/12/11
I have been going to Physical Therapy for six years or more. I’ve never had success like I had with Onondaga Physical Therapy when I started PT for a problem with my neck caused by arthritis(it was tilted to the right and I was in a great deal of pain).
In doing what I was told by my physical therapist and applying heat, I was getting relief. The treatment was done with professionalism and talking to me while doing the doing the treatment. Two months later my neck was straight with no pain. This is the first time ever.
This is the result of PT and medical help. I cannot say enough about the therapist and the ones who treated me at Onondaga Physical Therapy...they are the greatest and know what they are doing. Thank you so much.
V.F - Baldwinsville, NY 5/6/11
I was referred to Onondaga Physical Therapy with undiagnosed pain. I had previously gone to a General Practitioner, Emergency Room, OB/GYN and even a surgeon to diagnose - all without results. Within my first meeting, Leila Moore determined the issue to be a herniated disc (later confirmed by an Orthopedic MD). Physical therapy sessions lasted a few weeks and I was able to return to work without pain. (I am still waiting for any treatment from Orthopedic MD).
I would highly recommend Leila Moore and Mary Smith for a practical alternative in dealing with muscular/skeletal pain.
Margaret Halleron - Baldwinsville, NY 4/12/11
I was very happy with the care I received. Colleen, the receptionist, was always smiling, helpful and professional - a good beginning to my PT experience. My therapist was amazing, always professional and knowledgeable. Erin Malay explained my injury in detail, the “why’s” of my exercises, and tips to stay well. I actually looked forward to my appointments due to her. She is a credit to her profession. Any place of business is only as good as its staff - I feel like I hit the jackpot with Erin and Colleen. Thanks again for hiring such great people. I will refer anyone in need of PT to them. Thanks!
L.K - Syracuse, NY 3/25/11
Jennifer Hedrick was my Physical Therapist. I was diagnosed with arthritis in my right hip and leg. My doctor, Robert Polachek, referred me to Onondaga Physical Therapy. From the very first day, I had no doubt that I was getting the best care, and the most help I could get.
I never wanted to miss an appointment. Jennifer stayed with me, hands-on therapy concentrating on the very painful areas, but with a lot of patience. She also taught me many different exercises that I could do at therapy, and at home.
I am so pleased with my recovery, and all of the very personal attention I received. Everyone at the location were the best, they made everyone feel special. I will never forget how great they are!
Dorene Campbell - Syracuse, NY 3/2/2011
On 5/30/09 I fractured T6, 7 and 8 in my back. I was referred to Onondaga Physical Therapy by my doctor’s office. I met Mary Smith when I brought the PT script into the office. From that initial meeting her, she made me feel comfortable with what would be a very long process. Due to the fractures I was bent over and in severe & constant pain. Mary’s kind & compassionate demeanor allowed me to feel confident in her ability. From her initial letter to me to my last day in PT she made me feel important and that she would do whatever she could to ease my pain and help heal my broken bones. She answered my questions and reviewed my progress and setbacks with me and if needed, adjusted my therapy so I could continue with the least amount of pain possible yet benefit from therapy.
About halfway through the process, I found out I had a medical problem that further complicated my recovery. Mary never lost her compassion and on those days that were difficult for me I could always count on a smile and a word of encouragement.
I was impressed with the way Mary worked with Garry Campbell and Cindy in the office. The staff not only works well with patients, but with each other.
When my therapy was winding down, I consulted with Mary about continuing to strengthen my body and continue healing. She designed a program for me that would continue what she started. I joined Riverside Gym and continued this process.
By the time Mary brought my therapy to an end with me, I was able to stand straight and my stamina increased. I have referred family an friends to OPT and in particular to Mary. Even though my therapy has finished, Mary still has a smile and a kind word when she sees me in the gym. Should I need PT in the future, I hope Mary will have an opening for me. Thank you for having such a wonderful staff. Baldwinsville is richer for having them in the community.
Jeannette Randall - Baldwinsville, NY 1/17/10
I have been to many different PT offices and have found OPT to be the best. You receive individual attention directly from the PT, not an assistant. There is rarely a wait. Also, your PT only works with 2 people at once. The receptionist is very personable and treats clients well. Overall, I had a great experience at OPT and will return when needed!
Kathy L.- Syracuse, NY 1/25/11
I needed physical therapy three times in the last eight years; twice for lower back pain and once for post shoulder surgery. I chose Onondaga Physical Therapy each time. I received one-on-one personal attention from Garry Campbell and Mary Smith, bother very knowledgeable therapists.
In a matter of two weeks, I was on the road to recovery. I enjoyed each appointment.
Onondaga Physical Therapy is located in a fitness center. They can offer private therapy rooms, the use of fitness machines, or a heated pool for water exercises. I have used all three. It is a great facility.
K.S – Baldwinsville, NY 12/14/10
I had dealt with chronic neck and shoulder pain, upper back pain and headaches for many years before I was referred to Onondaga PT. I had tried many treatment methods and work with two other physical therapists previously, with no results. After working with Lauris for several months, I can say that I am a lot better. He spent more time with me than the other PTs and offered me a different approach and different at-home exercises than I had tried before. My pain level has improved and work with Jill when Lauris was on vacation, I was very impressed with her skills also. I had a good experience overall. Karen in the office always worked with my schedule to get me the appointment times I needed, and helped me with insurance matters, which I truly appreciated. If I had a friend or loved one in need of a physical therapist, I would recommend this group. Thanks!
L.H – Camillus, NY 11/27/10
I could barely walk when I first went to therapy. Within 2 weeks I felt like myself again. My therapists were extremely helpful and patient. They were both knowledgeable in what they were doing! I wouldn’t hesitate to go back if I had a re-occurance.
I also highly recommend them to anyone who needs assistance.
C. Sapka – Syracuse, NY 11/27/10
The therapy was the best! I worked with Lauris Rigdon and Jill Masters. Lauris is tough – he made me hurt but I always felt better when I walked out. I had a total left knee replacement; I can now get down to both knees! I have the flexibility that I had hoped for, and more. I can run – not fast and not graceful but I am only 4 months out of surgery. I still have to exercise at home; when I don’t I know it because I hurt. I’ve finished therapy but I’m still healing. I would come back and I highly recommended Onondaga Physical Therapy – you’re the best! And so very caring.
G.Y – Nedrow, NY 11/23/10
Mary Smith, PT is extraordinarily talented as a Physical Therapist. Her knowledge is top notch. Her dedication to excellence in customer service and patient care are superior. Her skill at massage, as well as other modalities to bring about healing is great. I recommend without reservation.
Kathy H. - Baldwinsville, NY 11/4/10
I began treatment for my knees and legs in June of 2010. Upon my initial review, I was immediately greeted by Mary Smith, a physical therapist, who was extremely pleasant and enthusiastic about the progress and success she was sure I would achieve. After only a few weeks I was able to bend my knees to an amazing 80º. After beginning at around 62 º this was an amazing achievement for me. Each session I worked at riding the bike but was unsuccessful at bending my right knee to a full circle rotation. Finally after 3 ½ months, I achieved that goal. Not only was I ecstatic, but Mary shared in my excitement. My thanks to Mary, and all of the staff at Onondaga Physical Therapy, for helping to make my life more fulfilled.
Cindy McGean – Phoenix, NY 10/31/10
This is to inform you of the excellent care I received while a patient at your Baldwinsville office. I was very fortunate to have Mary Smith as my PT provider; she is extremely knowledgeable, compassionate, encouraging without causing discomfort, on time and attentive with her patient. My re-hab was approximately six weeks, and with Mary not once did I dread going for the necessary work out. Thanks for such great care!!
Kathy Coleman – Baldwinsville, NY 10/16/10
I was referred to Onondaga Physical Therapy by my doctor, Jeffrey Christenson. He thought I should try PT before going for an MRI with pain in my knee. Having never been before, I wasn’t sure what to expect.
Leila, my therapist was knowledgeable, listened to my concerns, explained everything she was going to do and gave me excellent, individual attention.
The variety of exercises she had me do, increasing the weights each time, were just what I needed to make my knee stronger and to feel better. She gave me exercises to do daily at home, together with six sessions of therapy; I’m back to doing all my activities – walking, aerobics, yoga and dancing! Thanks, Leila!
Peg Wrona - Baldwinsville, NY 9/30/10
I was very pleased with the care that I received. The therapy itself was not painful, and my complete recovery was very quick. I am eternally grateful. Should I ever need help again, I would not think twice about returning to Onondaga PT. I will also recommend them to anyone I know who needs help.
Thank you again!
Linda W. - Canastota, NY 9/10/10
I had a great experience! The staff is awesome! Everyone is so caring! I came in from a total hip replacement. I had a slight limp and was becoming very dependent on my cane.
After working with Jill, Leila and Lauris, and always having Karen’s smiling face, I feel like a million bucks!
Thank you to all of you. I appreciate all that you did for me. I feel great!
P.S. I am back to walking 3 miles every day with no limp or cane! Thank you! J
Kathleen O’Hara – Syracuse, NY 9/2/10
I was very reluctant to come to PT. My first visit was very positive. Jill and Karen were very warm and welcoming. They both have a great sense of humor. I was amazed by how smart Jill is. She knows her job like a seasoned veteran. Jill really motivated me just to do my best. There was no time table or finish line. I found the co-pay to be a problem at times, so I was able to set up a payment program.
The bottom line was doing my exercises everyday. I was taught by the very best. Some moments of my PT time were actually fun.
I feel very free to call or go in with any concerns. Karen, the Office Manager was also very important in my recovery.
Mary S. – Syracuse, NY 8/27/10
I’ve had a problem with my normal walking and balance, but with the experience of my therapist, my conditions have greatly improved.
I was skeptical of therapy for my problems but I can attest that with the guidance and patience exhibited by the entire staff at Onondaga Physical Therapy, they would score a perfect “10” on my scale!
J.D. – North Syracuse, NY 7/26/10
Recently I have had sessions of therapy for my hips and neck. Just a small note to inform you, I would recommend Garry Campbell to everyone who has problems with their hip or neck. He is very proud of his profession as a Physical Therapist. He has the personality and a caring for the patients that he takes care of. I also want to add that in the past, I have had to have shoulder therapy performed by Mary Smith. Everything I wrote about Garry above also pertains to Mary. Baldwinsville is lucky and fortunate to have excellent therapists like Garry and Mary in the community.
Charles J. Hughes – Baldwinsville, NY 7/15/10
The Physical Therapist was very upfront relative to the possibility of partial repair of rotator cuff injury. She pointed out that possible surgery would not be a panacea. She encouraged me to continue the daily shoulder exercises at home and location of practice site in B’ville. She was the first medical professional to diagnose injury and encouraged me to have MRI to firm diagnosis.
At times, she pushed the exercises and eased up on them. She encouraged me to acknowledge pain and stop when needed. She pushed me to not be discouraged with pain and slow progress. She convinced me to continue the program chiefly at home. She indicated that pain would go to different parts of my arm and shoulder, but to continue working the exercise program.
At the same time, she encouraged me to keep daily walking exercise of 1 to 2 miles per day for other conditions, and showed all of these exercises can work together.
I am very satisfied with the professional manner of the Physical Therapist, her sense of humor and patience to answer my questions.
Mary Smith, PT diagnosed my problems as a pulled hamstring. During ensuing visits she provided ultrasound heat and stretching therapy. Within about eight PT sessions, mobility was regained to the extent that I was able to manage on my own.
Overall, the treatments were very effective and the environment very pleasant. In the event of future needs, I will go to Onondaga Physical Therapy again.
D. Mott – Baldwinsville, NY 7/14/10
To whom it may concern – I found your therapist to be very friendly and helpful in judging what help I needed and was instructing me in what I needed to do to get the correct results. My leg is now working as good as it did originally. Thank you so much.
EMC - Baldwinsville, NY 6/21/10
I am extremely satisfied with my Therapist, Erin. She was very thorough and I felt she was really concerned and cared about my recovery – she was patient and worked with me closely.
If I need PT again, this is where I want to be cared for.
Edith S. – Liverpool, NY 6/18/10
I have had Physical Therapy after each of my arthroscopic knee surgeries and after my total knee replacement. This was by far my best experience. Thanks to hard work and Erin, I progressed quickly and found my experience with Onondaga PT far more rewarding physically than my encounters with other facilities. Erin also made the therapy sessions more of a family type atmosphere and actually made the visits a pleasurable experience. If I ever need physical therapy in the future I will without question utilize the services of Onondaga PT.
Bob C. – North Syracuse, NY 6/9/10
Neck, shoulder, knee: 3 problems in 3 years. Each time, the therapy at Onondaga Physical Therapy’s Baldwinsville office, and home exercises have provided effective relief and improved motion. The shoulder was a re-injury of the rotator cuff that had been surgically repaired 10 years before, Dr. DiChristina agreed that PT might be helpful, but thought I would eventually need more surgery. When I returned for an evaluation after 6 weeks with Onondaga PT, he released me “until you injure yourself the next time.” Believe me; I was not looking forward to more surgery, with its months of recovery.
I am very glad to have had first Chrystal, and now Mary, two knowledgeable, skillful and caring Physical Therapists to work with. I’m all about avoiding any more injuries, but if it happens, I know where I will go first.
Care about health care reform and cost reduction? I am convinced that the PT I received from Onondaga PT saved thousands, when compared to surgical and other treatment options.
Al Smith – Baldwinsville, NY 5/3/10
It is with great pleasure that I return this form to Onondaga Physical Therapy. After attending many other therapy sessions, I consider myself to be knowledgeable of the ways they work. The staff and associates are true professionals and really strive for your best results.
Some therapists will see you 1 or 2 times and hand you off to less experienced workers. At Onondaga PT, you see one therapist through your entire healing process, and to a patient that means more than anything.
It was a joy to work with Erin and the staff, I have met some great friends that I shall remember forever.
Doug Dever – Syracuse, NY 4/22/10
When I first came to Onondaga Physical Therapy was in pain in my right hip. The first session with Erin was extremely painful when she hit the pressure points in my hip. In the session that followed, the pain lessened dramatically, and along with the exercises she had me do, in several weeks I had no pain at all. Both Erin and Karen were very pleasant and fun to be with. I would recommend Onondaga Physical Therapy to anyone who needed their kind of help.
Beverly Dever – Cicero, NY 3/11/10
My experience at the Onondaga PT was a positive one. Everyone at the office was so welcoming and it seems so happy to do their jobs of helping patients. I have only had a couple of visits, but the individualized attention and care was readily apparent as both the receptionist and individual therapists communicated their help and advice in a humble, honest and humanly level.
In October of 2009, I had a right hip replacement. Dr. Greenky gave me a list of therapy places. I chose Onondaga Physical Therapy because it was located in the village of Baldwinsville, near my home.
I was lucky to have Mary Smith helping me to get better. She worked with me a couple of days a week. After 3 or 4 weeks, I went back to Dr. Greenky and told him I would like more therapy. He said I didn’t need any more. It seems to me that Mary did such a great job that I was back to normal! I am doing terrific today.
R.A – Baldwinsville, NY 1/4/10
Jill and Lauris have provided me with a Physical Therapy program that has improved my arthritis pain symptoms. Their treatment was friendly and professional, including a program for home therapy. I feel that everyone would be satisfied with the quality of service provided by Onondaga Physical Therapy.
Ken Dickerson – Tully, NY 12/25/09
I entered PT with a partial tear in my meniscus of the right knee, and lots of pain. My therapist Garry developed a program to strengthen the knee and eliminate the pain, in an effort to avoid surgery.
Within two months, my knee feels great. I am pain-free and have resumed playing basketball and working out.
I can’t thank Garry enough for his help, and his professional and casual approach to healing. Thank you!
Joe Pucello – Baldwinsville, NY 12/23/09
It’s very important to walk up the wall with your hand as high as or all the way up everyday. Physical Therapy is the only way. Physical Therapy showed me how to free my frozen shoulder. I could not put my hand over my head, reach, or pick up anything heavy. Thank you!
Ronald Depeyster – Baldwinsville, NY 12/17/09
Thanks to Onondaga Physical Therapy I am more able to do many things I couldn’t possibly do a few months ago –raising my right arm was almost impossible, along with the problems with my legs.
The whole staff is dedicated to making you healthy again. I miss my Tuesday & Thursday sessions!
Doris M. – Syracuse, NY 12/9/09
I want to thank the staff at the Baldwinsville location for excellent care and help. Very professional and caring. I am sorry that I could not continue but due to finances I had to stop. I did feel after each session that I was doing better. I still do my work out at home, but it is not the same. Thanks for you help, especially Mary.
L.M – Baldwinsville, NY 11/18/09
I had experienced much pain in my top of the shoulder. I played sports in my high school and continued playing third base at Cobleskill College. Throughout my playing sports I never had the pain that I had with the shoulder problem. I went to Dr. Jeffrey Hughes for a consultation and he told me to go for physical therapy at Onondaga Physical Therapy. I had been there prior to the shoulder situation and had seen Lauris Rigdon for elbow problems. Lauris did a fine job getting my elbow back in shape, doing ultrasound and exercises. I haven’t had any problems with my elbow since doing the therapy. For my shoulder problem, it was under the guidance of Mary Smith. Using ultrasound and exercises again, I haven’t had any problems with my shoulder. The two experiences I had with both Lauris and Mary were both enjoyable and so helpful with my rehabilitation.
Charles John Hughes III, Baldwinsville, NY 11/8/09
On May 25th, I started therapy because of a nagging back pain. The hands on exercise I received from my therapist and the exercise machines were very helpful in releaving me of pain. I was also pleased that I was shown exercise to do at home as I only went to therapy twice weekly. My therapy lasted 4 months and as of Sept. 30th the last day of my therapy, I am free of pain.
David T, Syracuse, NY 10/2/09
My experience at OPT was very positive and constructive. I was given very professional care in an upbeat and personable atmosphere. I never had a bad experience with anyone staffed at OPT. I feel that my therapy was productive. I feel confident continuing my exercises on my own because I was given great instructions by Jill Masters. I cannot say enough good things about my experience. All in all it was successful and I would recommend anyone to get their Pt through your business. Thank you to all the staff. I truly appreciate the attentive care I received.
Alanna Zimmer-Redmond, Syracuse, NY 9/20/09
I have been a patient of OPT on two separate occasions for pre-surgery and post surgery treatment. My experience with their organization has been nothing but excellent. They are professional, knowledgeable and personal. My post surgery results have been outstanding as a result of their treatment and the programs that they developed for my recovery. My surgeries were not simple but they, through their professional evaluation and guidance helped me achieve my goal, of a complete recovery. I strongly recommend anyone that needs physical therapy contact them. You will not be disappointed. My thanks to Lauris Rigdon and two of his staff members, Mary Smith and Garry Campbell who made my full recovery possible. I would be remiss if I didn’t compliment their receptionist, Cindy and their billing department who made scheduling of my appointments simple and easy but also cleared up some billing problems with my insurance company.
James R. Wojnovich, Baldwinsville, NY 9/5/09
My experience with OPT was exceptional! Any questions I had were addressed right away. Cindy is very pleasant and efficient, and helped me with all my questions.
Mary Smith was my physical therapist and was quite professional and personable. I actually looked forward to my appointments. She gave me her undivided attention and listened carefully to all of my concerns. She put together a program for me that showed results and always had a nice smile.
The entire staff at OPT (including the owner) are very professional, friendly and caring. Thank you! J
Sandee Dain – Baldwinsville, NY8/27/09
Lauris, thanks for your help assisting me through my sports training-related injury. The exercises you showed me will continue to be part of my work out routine. I feel that I am back at 100% and stronger than ever. Thanks!
Ken Sherman – Central Square, NY 8/25/09
Actually my doctor felt that Onondaga Physical Therapy would be a good fit for me. In terms of location, and in terms of comprehensive, compassionate care – She was right.
I would suggest to anyone not wanting to hear F-Bombs or other bad language from the gym area to make early afternoon appointments. After 6 weeks of care, my leg, my walk and quality of life are so good. I thank my doctor and Garry Campbell, of Onondaga PT, for a more enjoyable life. Sincerely yours.
Lucy C. – Phoenix, NY 8/18/09
Convenient right at Riverside Fitness Center. Friendly staff of PT’s and receptionist.
No-pressure approach to therapy. Knowledgeable and willing to listen. Answer questions regarding what can and can’t be done in work out at gym to enhance and promote greater function.
S. F. – Baldwinsville, NY 8/15/09
I selected Onondaga Physical Therapy due to the convenient location (and free parking) and the fitness center. My treatments were convenient to my busy work schedule and my therapist and the office manager scheduled around my schedule. I received easy to perform exercises at home and enjoyed learning to use the Nautilus machines. I even joined the Onondaga Hill Health & Fitness Center so I could continue my routine. Erin and Jill were professional and made my rehab fun. I would recommend my friends to go to Onondaga Physical Therapy for great results in a caring attentive atmosphere.
Ruth C. – Camillus, NY 8/10/09
I was very pleased having Mary Smith as my Therapist. She was thorough with my particular case. She told me from the start she probably do a lot for my arthritis in my shoulders. However, the visits did help me in what I could do for my shoulders that was very hard for me to do previously. She was very friendly and I enjoyed being with her at every visit. She was very easy to talk with.
E. Adkins – Baldwinsville, NY 8/3/09
It is a very nice place and everyone is friendly. When I met Garry Campbell he asked what was wrong, and he worked me out very well. All the exercises and weights in hand, and had me go 20 times each, that was alone helping me to feel better. I would recommend your place to anyone. Thank you.
P. Long – Baldwinsville, NY 7/24/09
I have been suffering with sciatica pain for about seven years and had been treated by the chiropractor off and on over those years. My doctor recommended trying physical therapy and just one trip to PT changed my life. I have learned how to do the proper stretches and really got the help I needed for my pain. I still have a twinge of pain now and then but know how to fix it. Thank you Garry Campbell you are very thorough and helped me a lot.
D.S., Baldwinsville, NY 6/29/09
OPT made Physical Therapy enjoyable. Cindy, Gary and Mary are all wonderful people. They always had smiles on their faces, and were always professional. Mary did everything to help strengthen my back. I always enjoy my sessions. I would recommend OPT to anyone in the area!!
Danielle S. – Baldwinsville, NY 6/29/09
Years ago I was sent to another physical therapist for lower back pain, and after one visit my back was in spasms and I couldn’t stand. So, needless to say I had a bad experience and did not have a lot of faith in physical therapy.
Recently, I sprained my knee and was referred by my primary care physician to Jill Masters at Onondaga Physical Therapy. I decided to go with an open mind. Jill was professional, thorough and diligent. Her personalized exercise routine, as well as her encouragement, was the key to my faith and belief in the program she set up for me. I went twice a week for appointments with Jill, and continued to feel less pain and regain strength in my knee. My last appointment was last week, and when I was released, Jill encouraged me to keep up the exercises. At the goodbye, Jill told me to call with any issue, anytime.
The staff, especially Karen in the office, is warm, welcoming and if an appointment needs to be changed or anything of the sort, the request is handled with no problem and with a willingness to cater to the patient.
My faith in Physical Therapy has been restored and I would highly recommend Onondaga Physical Therapy, and Jill Masters.
H.C. – Syracuse, NY 6/22/09
During the night when I got up for a bathroom call, I fell and put my shoulder through a wall. I went to my doctor and he prescribed PT for my shoulder. I chose Onondaga Physical Therapy since I had good results there before, when I had my knee replaced. Jill Masters was my assigned therapist.
For months prior to falling I had been having trouble with range of motion in my shoulder and had real difficulty with moving my arm diagonally across my body. My shoulder felt like it was going out of joint when I did this motion. I would have to swing my arm around in order to get it back into place. I went to PT twice a week for two months, and at the end of my therapy, range of motion and that troublesome diagonal movement were no longer a problem. I am stronger and more able to do things with my arm and shoulder now than I have been for probably years.
I am short and I can reach dishes on the second shelf of my cupboard, I can reach my clothes line, and most importantly, I can shop without having to find a clerk (Where are they when you need them?) or a tall person to reach an item on a high shelf. Since many of the exercises were with my other arm also, I have improved the range of motion and strength in that arm too. I am thrilled with the improvements and would recommend Onondaga Physical Therapy to anyone in need of fixing.
Thanks Jill, Lauris and Erin for your help.
Marian C. – Syracuse, NY 6/19/09
I can only say that I was treated very well, and that my knee when I started hurt an awful lot. After all the treatment and therapy, I am able to walk better and they have taught me how to take care of my knee, and to keep it working.
Edward Fries – Baldwinsville, NY 6/3/09
When my physician prescribed Physical Therapy, there was little doubt that I would try Onondaga Physical Therapy, hoping that my insurance was accepted there. As a member of Riverside, it only made sense .Fortunately, my insurance was accepted, and I was pleasantly surprised how quickly I was able to get an appointment.
When I first arrived, I had no real strength in either of my arms, and the pain associated with even the most mundane tasks was very uncomfortable to say the least. Upon reviewing the issues and evaluating movement, Garry administered a cervical decompression therapy. At once, I could feel the difference in that the pain subsided. After more manipulations and exercises, the strength in my arms was equal and evident. Mind you, this was only the first visit.
Four more sessions served to reinforce the movement and further diminish the pain. Furthermore, Garry was able to provide me with exercises that could be done at my desk, while driving, or any time at home. He also mentioned that the device used to decompress my neck was available in some form, led me to locate and purchase a similar unit so that I could continue to treat myself at home.
Overall, if I had known that PT was the key to feeling better, I would have done it long ago. Because of my time with Garry, I am able to complete a full workout with no discomfort. This was not possible since January, and it is now May.

I appreciate the attention to my symptoms and story – all of the PT’s listened and responded efficiently and professionally to help me get the use of my leg back to normal. Able teachers, never making me feel self-conscious. Thank you, Thank you!
Dawn Hickman – Baldwinsville, NY 5/28/09
I was very pleased with the service and results I received from Onondaga Physical Therapy. My therapist, Mary Smith, was very good at assessing my problem and providing excellent therapy to assist with the correcting of my situation. She has provided me with a series of exercises which will enable me to prevent a reoccurrence of my ailment if I adhere to the recommended exercise regimen prescribed for me. I have returned to almost 100% normal usage of my shoulder and expect to continue to improve with proper exercise. Thank you for all of your excellent service.
D.F. – Baldwinsville, NY 5/23/09
Garry helped me a lot. I am looking forward to going back. Garry is very good at his job and a very pleasant person.
Agnes Hotaling – Baldwinsville, NY 5/20/09
Before I started physical therapy I was skeptical that it would help me. I had tried acupuncture and chiropractic care, as well as seeing a medical doctor, but nothing seemed to give me any relief from my back pain.
After only a few sessions, there were noticeable improvements in what I was able to do. It convinced me to stick with the therapy that they designed specifically to treat my injury. If anyone feels as though nothing can help, don’t give up. Rehabilitation doesn’t happen overnight. Sometimes time, and the right people, like the therapists at Onondaga Physical Therapy, is what you need.
Larry Arnold – Syracuse, NY 5/14/09
After experiencing numbness and cramping in my lower back and left thigh, I was sent to PT. I have a disc that has shifted and is pinching a nerve a I have aged. I was assigned to Mary, who worked with me for 6 weeks, twice a week. She is great and she gave me exercises to strengthen and loosen my lower back. She increased the repetition as time went on and added exercises. I have improved with these targeted exercises. I will continue to do them. Although not cured, I have the “tools” to hopefully avoid surgery and walk unassisted. I was skeptical, but must admit I am better.
Mary is very pleasant, but is no nonsense and expects you to help yourself and make the effort. Thank you.
A.F. – Baldwinsville, NY 5/13/09
Very convenient. Personable and knowledgeable staff. With my arthritis, I’m sure I’ll be a repeat customer.
E. Haney – Baldwinsville, NY 5/8/09
I went to an orthopedic physician to determine what could be done about my shoulder pain. He stated there would be a 3-step process: first, I would do physical therapy and if that did not solve my problem, second, I would require a cortisone shot, and if that did not solve my problem, third, I would need surgery. He diagnosed my problem as a bone spur and I honestly had my doubts that physical therapy would work. However, in less than 2 months my shoulder improved dramatically. I did not require a cortisone shot or surgery due to physical therapy results. The therapist was very helpful and gave me exercises that I could do at home to improve my condition. My appointments were scheduled at my convenience and were always punctual. I was greeted personally and had many questions answered along with good advice. Physical therapy was very successful for me. My therapist worked with me to achieve my goal for returning my shoulder mobility without pain.
V.M – Baldwinsville, NY 5/5/09
I had mobility surgery on my hand, and my doctor recommended that I go to Onondaga Physical Therapy for postsurgical rehab. My therapist taught me why this therapy was so important to repair the full mobility of my hand. It was a great experience, as well as a success.
I can’t thank those people enough for the work they did. I know I’ll be back again.
Gene Rowland – Marcellus, NY 5/3/09
I was having severe neck, shoulder and arm pain. When I began PT the treatment plan developed by Mary Smith was aimed at pain relief and ongoing exercises to promote optimal function for chronic and progressive condition. By the time I finished, I was much more comfortable and able to continue what I’ve learned to provide ongoing relief.
Mary was very friendly, professional and always very aware of my comfort. My requests to extend visits were handled quickly and with the least amount of interruption. Mary voluntarily sent a copy of my treatment plan so we could make changes if necessary. She was very interested in getting test results so the best plan could be executed.
Dr. Ely Saarie told me Onondaga PT was her first choice for me when she recommended PT and now I know why. Your ability to accommodate my insurance and need for evening hours was invaluable. Thank you!
Vicki Wallace – Baldwinsville, NY 4/17/09
I found my Physical Therapist to be very helpful with my problem. Of course, it’s important to follow through as you are instructed, so as to get maximum benefit. The shock waves treatment did most for my specific needs!
A. B. – Baldwinsville, NY 4/7/09
My experience with Onondaga Physical Therapy has been most rewarding for the past two months or so especially with my PT, Mary Smith, very professional and beneficial in helping me in all my endeavors of my treatment. Thank you so much, Sincerely,
T. El-Hage Baldwinsville, NY 12/4/08
I came to PT a little frustrated about my shoulder/neck. I thought that it should start feeling better. I was in good shape and ate right. My shoulder which was strained had a big affect on my work and even simple tasks like driving. From the first day Garry made me feel welcome and was very optimistic about being able to help me get better. He was great about only making me do what I was capable/comfortable with but also helping me to heal. I saw gradual improvement week to week and the exercises he gave me to do on my own reduced my pain. After 10-12 visits, I was back to myself and ready to work and enjoy my social life without interference from my shoulder pain. Thank you!
Jeremy Bullock, Baldwinsville, NY 11/20/08
I have Osteoarthritis, Fibromyalgia, Degenerative Disease of the cervical and lumbar spines, along with several other health problems. The most severe pain radiates in my lower back, knees, shoulders and legs. I came to OPT for severe left shoulder pain. I was shown several arm exercises and the use of a TENS unit. The exercises increase my shoulder and neck pain but the TENS unit helped the pain and increased my arm and neck movement. Because of the success with my shoulder, I decided to take my doctors advice and try water therapy for my lower back, legs and knees. When I started the therapy I had great difficulty walking, I’d just scuff my feet along. My most difficulty consisted of 1. walking, pain in both legs, lower back. 2. Lifting my legs up to walk upstairs. 3. Put my shoes and sock on. 4. Bending my knees. (I do wear knee braces, plus other braces). The water therapy has made a great improvement in my walking, lifting up my legs. It has helped my arm, wrists, ankle and neck movements. To be truthful, my back pain is just as severe or moreso, when I don’t listen and overdo my exercises (bu8t pain blocks produced did not help either). I highly recommend and do water therapy through OPT. To anyone who has arthritis of any form and any muscle injury or back pain. My therapists were Garry Campbell, Lauris Rigdon and Mary Smith. Each one worked with me, showed me various therapy exercises. The main thing I liked best is they work really close to you and your individual problems. They also do not push you or force you to do anything you really feel you cannot do because it is too painful.
Marge F. Detran, Baldwinsville, NY 10/9/08
I had an extremely positive experience at OPT. Lauris knew exactly what exercises to have you do for your recovery and he was great at being able to pinpoint the source of any problem areas you told him about. He was always then able to alleviate the problem. I enjoyed their ability to take care of my changing schedule needs. I always felt that whatever I needed they would bend over backwards to take care of.
Michael S., Syracuse, NY 8/28/08
I went to therapy for stenosis of the spine. Lauris worked with me for 8 sessions. He focused on my abs and my flexibility. I am now pain-free and I know how to relieve the pain should it come back. Service was TOP NOTCH!
Bob Venner, Syracuse 8/20/08
Crystal started my program for a couple of sessions and then Garry Campbell took over. Both are excellent but Garry is by far the best therapist I have ever had and I have been to a lot of therapists. I have had two operations on each knee, foot and shoulder operations and elbow. Garry teaches you how to do exercises to assist in your recovery. He has compassion in dealing with his clients but is tough enough for you to progress in your recovery.
My experience with OPT has helped me to increase muscle strength which helped me to perform activities I previously could not do. Also, competence/confidence in my abilities to perform activities for my daily routines increased. To me, it was the support, competence and professionalism of the PT who worked with me that was very important.
Sara Yurkon, Syracuse, NY 7/2/08
When none of my doctors gave me any hope for a recovery from a serious flare-up of rheumatoid arthritis, I turned to OPT for help. They were not negative because I have a thirty-two year history of this disease. Not only did they give me hope, they provided me with excellent results after a short time. One on one treatment in physical therapy and aqua therapy healed my knee and made a 75% improvement in my neck and shoulder. The combination of massage and exercise did the trick. Garry is a great instructor and Lauris has magic in his hands!! I feel like a new person and am confident lifting weights again. Thank you.
Muriel Orenstein, Baldwinsville, NY 5/12/08
As a member of the fitness club, I had been putting off doing core activities. It took a back injury and a program designed by Lauris to realize how important “core” training is for me. We put together a program that helped me come back quicker from my injury. I have since added the program I learned to my program. My experience with OPT was very positive and helpful. It also helped me realize how important the holistic approach is recommended by them. Very professional one on one care.
Jim Jenkins, Syracuse, NY 5/7/08
I had never been to a physical therapist before I arrived at Onondaga Physical Therapy and didn’t know what to expect. I immediately felt welcome by the office staff and was completely put at east by my therapist. My arms were so restricted and painful that I couldn’t reach beyond the first shelf of a cupboard; had difficulty drying my hair not to mention the fact that I couldn’t even reach the back of my head to brush or comb my hair. I was started on a regime of exercises; each week adding one more and in a very short time I began to feel results. I have since “graduated” but do continue to do the exercises on a daily basis just as I have been instructed. OPT is a highly professional operation and yet at the same time, I always felt like I was visiting a friend. I always felt that my therapist genuinely wanted to help me and was truly interested in my progress. I would not for a minute hesitate recommending OPT.
Donna L., Syracuse, NY 11/10/07
I would like to share my success story of physical therapy at OPT. When I first came in for an evaluation two weeks after knee surgery, I was very painful and not looking forward to the experience. I had been in PT for 4 months prior to the knee surgery elsewhere and it had not been a positive experience. From the initial evaluation to the end of my visits, everything was different. Mr. Rigdon was thorough and experienced. He was able to help me regain movement and use of my leg faster than I thought possible. In one month my progress was amazing. Mr. Rigdon’s expertise and skill made my recovery much easier and faster.
J. MacDonald, Syracuse, NY 9/16/07
My PT experience has greatly improved both mobility and comfort in my neck and shoulder. Continued daily performance of prescribed exercises helps to maintain the gains I have made. Come and find out what you can do for yourself with the help of PT. (even after age 80!!)
Mary W. Bednarski, Marcellus, NY 8/29/07
Garry worked very good with me. I looked forward to coming there 3 days a week. I miss and I am not doing so good. Thanks, Pam
Pamela J. Carol, Baldwinsville, NY 7/30/07
I was cared for by Sarah Sylstra, PT. I found Sarah to be caring, knowledgeable and very professional. I attended therapy twice a week for three weeks. I must say that my back and groin pain improved with every session. I had tendinitis in my left knee and now have no pain at all. I don’t feel groin pain but have a little back pain every once in a while, but not at all like I had before therapy. I felt very good after each session and felt very fortunate to be able to use the facility. Thank you,
Caroline Petroff, Syracuse, NY 7/28/07
I highly recommend Onondaga Physical Therapy. Recently I had a total knee replacement and after at home physical therapy I needed further therapy in an out-patient basis. After 4 weeks of physical therapy with Lauris Rigdon, I regained the use of my knee and flexibility is nearly normal. The personal attention given me, the convenience hours and the facilities available provided an excellent atmosphere to regain my strength. Having a complete fitness center site plus professional help form Lauris Rigdon and his staff, provides excellent rehabilitation for someone needing physical therapy.
Patricia K. Smarzo, Marcellus, NY 6/23/07
After pulling a groin muscle, I developed some tendinitis in my hip from favoring the sore leg. I knew from past experiences that I needed some therapy to get back to normal. Garry Campbell not only worked with me at OPT, but taught me how to work on my own at home and what exercises I needed to do to avoid future problems. I expected to be in therapy for about a month. Garry had me at almost 100% normalcy in 3 weeks of 2x a week sessions. The staff is friendly, courteous and professional. I would recommend them in a heart beat!!
John M., Baldwinsville, NY 6/6/07
Having knee problems most of my life and now having a back problem you want a group that cares about you enough to help you. Onondaga PT cares about you more. They want you better almost to the point of perfection before you were hurt. Garry is the best therapist I could ask for. He is compassionate and makes you feel like you are his #1 concern no matter when you are there or even if he just sees you around. It is great to have the one on one with your therapist. They (OPT) is the best PT place I have been to. I have been to three or four different PT places and will now never go anywhere else. I send anyone I can to OPT as I will say for as long as I am around. OPT is the best for physical therapy. Thank you to the staff and especially to Garry.
Vicki B., Baldwinsville, NY 6/6/07
I came in for therapy for back pain and muscle weakness. Sarah Sylstra was my therapist. She was very professional, knowledgeable as to my particular problem and level of ability to work on strength and balance issues. She and the work-out she designed for me helped very much in reducing the pain I was experiencing and showing me how to maintain the benefits on my own. She is also very kind.
Marilyn L. Halliday, Syracuse, NY 5/21/07
As you know, I worked at my own slow/gentle pace and I was helped with my goal by not being forced with aggressive therapy for my recovery. It was taken into consideration what was important for me to accomplish to get back to work and everyday living. I wanted to advance in therapy without being in pain from the exercises. This was accomplished. I continue my therapy at home because I believe in what I was taught at OPT. I know that I am continuing my independence because of the personal care I received from my therapists.
Anna J. Vanetti, Syracuse, NY 5/16/07
My experience was very pleasant, severed by Garry, not only physically but emotionally. A very uplifting time ending too quickly. Gary is to be commended for his assistance.
Joseph E. Moncada, Jr. Baldwinsville, NY 5/14/07
The evaluation and subsequent treatment at OPT was very good. Also, their being located in the Onondaga Hill Health and Fitness Center was advantageous because I could transfer what I learned in PT to the health center and continue practicing a beneficial workout. To this 80-year-old, it is most reassuring that improvement is still possible.
Mary K. Coon, Syracuse, NY 5/14/07
I was referred to physical therapy after a battery of tests, including a nerve conduction test and MRI that showed a herniated C6-7 disc and a left C5-C6 radiculopathy. My chief presenting problem was the loss of strength and warmth in my left arm, wrist and hand. In addition, I felt a constant sense of fatigue which was exacerbated with simple physical exercise, such as house cleaning or gardening. Where did the high school athlete disappear to? The onset of my symptoms was subtle, yet impacting because unconsciously I had gradually retreated from my normal activities. I could not understand what triggered my distress, and consequently reduced my activity.
Through weekly meetings, Lauris Rigdon, introduced activities that not only gradually increased my strength and flexibility, but also allowed me to return to my fitness routine without fear of additional trauma or “payback”. Lauris’ treatment was not only instructional but also educational. I was informed what exercises distressed my body and what exercises increased my strength. This was important to me because I wanted to understand both my triggers and my treatment options.
Today, I am back to my normal activity level, enjoy greater flexibility and renewed strength. It is surprising what I accepted as “old age”’ despite my relative youth and determination. In many ways OPT got me back on the path to recovery.
I was equally as pleased with the administrative services of OPT. The office staff was as pleasant as they were efficient. The staff also treated me as a person, not a “client” or “another case”. I consider them among my friends, not just health care professionals – though that they are. Moreover, the practice’s location and facilities were superb – making it all the easier and enjoyable to commit to the routine appointments.
I recommend the practice without reservation and deeply appreciate their care.
Susan Terasaka, Baldwinsville, NY 03/07/07
Lauris,
The program was very individualized. You made sure that I knew what to do with the exercises and how to do the exercises correctly. I appreciated the comfort of a session to promote asking questions. I know the exercises that I learned still help in keeping the affected areas working without pain.
Dawn C., Syracuse, NY 2/28/07
I really liked the team approach of OPT. The physical therapists worked so well together and brain stormed a variety of techniques to approach my problem. The office was very accommodating and worked with my schedule.

I chose Onondaga Physical Therapy myself. It was more convenient to my workplace and home. I had gone to other facilities for aqua therapy before, however, I wanted someplace more convenient. The only problem I had was the time PT’s offered in the past. It interfered with my work schedule. Both the A.M. and P.M. times were during my workday! I wish there were evening appointments available. Garry is a wonderful, caring person and he offered care with compassion to all of my “classmates”. It was great to be in a small class where you got to know each other. Garry added a light hearted conversation while we chatted and exercised. In the past, the PT added no personality to the class and this certainly was a plus to the class. I’ve told friends and family about Onondaga PT.

Due to my extensive arthritic operations (6), I am well acquainted with physical therapy. For the most part I have been fairly satisfied with them. My last operation in 3/04 was a back operation due to spinal stenosis. This condition caused much pain and I had to use a cane when walking.
I had a few treatments at Onondaga Physical Therapy. My pain was eased and my walking was much better. It took awhile before I was relatively pain free. It was then when I decided to return to PT to find out which of the machines would make my back stronger. I also had instruction in water therapy. I can’t stress enough how good I feel; the best in years. I am truly grateful for their knowledge and patience.

I had surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon on November 23, 2005. Never in my life did I have such an injury. Being an athlete, I really didn’t know how to handle not being able to walk for 3 months. With the help of my doctor and physical therapist, I was able to run and play golf again by the end of June. I have to especially give credit to Sarah, my physical therapist. She really motivated me to work hard to get me on my feet again. Our goal was to be able to golf again in June. Not only did we reach our goal, but I had my first hole in one on July 17, 2006. Thank you Sarah, Karen and the rest of the staff at Onondaga Physical Therapy.
Michelle Michel, Syracuse, NY 12/20/06
Hi Lauris and all you therapists at OPT. I found the folks at Onondaga Physical Therapy most helpful, professional, friendly, and caring. You all certainly were the reason I walk quite easily after having knee replacement surgery in April. THANK YOU!!!
Jane MacDonald, Baldwinsville, NY 12/14/06
I enjoyed the experience I had at Onondaga Physical Therapy, probably very good as it can be due to circumstances (painful left shoulder after surgery). Sarah was very good at what exercises she had me perform or therapy she did. She is a very nice and understanding person.
L. W., Syracuse, NY 12/11/06
The individualized care starts with Karen. Karen treats every patient as a person and not a number, like many doctor offices do. Then off to see Sarah or Lauris. Both P.T.’s give personalized attention to their patients. I started in the pool with light exercise and did not progress to land exercises until they felt I was totally ready. They encouraged me to do a little more, but not too much. They gave me exercises I could do on my own at home and at the fitness center. I believe it would have been a slower recovery without the aquatic therapy. Thank you Karen, Sarah, and Lauris for your care.
Teresa R., Syracuse, NY 12/1/06
On June 15, 2006 I broke my left clavicle. The doctor put my arm in a sling for the rest of June, all of July. In August I began physical therapy. My shoulder had “frozen.” I was unable to move my arm in any direction. With help from everyone at Onondaga physical Therapy, I am now able to move my arm with almost full range of motion. The staff at Onondaga Physical Therapy was polite, helpful, and professional. I continued physical therapy well into November.
Joyce M. Berube, Baldwinsville, NY 11/29/06
I have been very pleased with the results of my physical therapy at Onondaga Physical Therapy. The P.T.’s and staff are very knowledgeable and supportive. I always feel that they are attentive and caring. They return phone calls promptly and answer questions with care and consideration.
S. F., Syracuse, NY 11/27/06
My care was done in a professional manner and once the pain was gone my appointments were cancelled. I was told what to do at home to keep my back pain free and informed to call back if the pain returned. My back has felt much better since going to the therapy.
Peter Smith, Syracuse, NY 11/26/06
When I first started Physical Therapy I had been suffering with arthritis in my back, hips, and knee. At times the pain was so bad I couldn’t take another step. I had been told by many people that PT didn’t work but I was willing to give it a try. At first I seemed to be getting worse (muscle spasms in back, knots in arm) but realized I was using muscles I hadn’t been using. In time I got much better and finally was discharged. I am now walking pain free. I was treated like a queen. Sarah was so patient with me. She made me feel like a special person and recognized my limitations. I am a very nervous and tense person and she made me relax. I would recommend Onondaga Physical Therapy to anyone (I already have).
Carolyn Montgomery, Syracuse, NY 11/25/06
I have been to three other P.T. facilities and have never had as good care as I have at O.P.T. The therapists are very helpful, conscientious, and care about the patient they are treating. A comment made to me by my therapist, “I hate it when I can’t get my patients well that they have to keep coming back for months.” The compassion in his face was all I needed to know that someone cared about my individualized problem.
Thank you to O.P.T. and their staff for making my recovery a good one, the first time and now the second.
Vicki B., Baldwinsville, NY 11/25/06
I received P.T. at the Onondaga Hill facility, was being treated for tendonitis. I was very impressed with your professional, kind and caring staff. My condition improved and I am doing more exercise at home that Sarah taught me.
I also appreciated the efforts of Karen with my paperwork. She was very helpful!!
Thank you to all.
Donna R., Syracuse, NY 11/21/06
April 24, 2006 I had a knee replacement surgery. At the first week of May I made arrangements with Onondaga physical Therapy for rehabilitation of this knee. I chose this physical therapy because my daughter had been treated there and was really satisfied with her outcome.
I was treated by a therapist in and out of a pool environment, mostly out, for about sixteen visits. The next time I saw my doctor, he said that I was four to five weeks ahead of normal recovery. When complete, the physical therapist told me what to do to enhance my recovery.
Gerald Broekhuizen, Baldwinsville, NY 11/21/06
I was very apprehensive about undergoing physical therapy for my plantar fasciitis. My fears were erased, however, when I saw how knowledgeable and capable that both Lauris Rigdon and Garry Campbell were when handling my problem. They explained what was causing my pain, worked on it to start me on the road to recovery, and taught me exercises that I could do at home to sustain and enhance the healing. Lauris and Garry were very respectful and never talked down to me or made me feel uncomfortable when I asked loads of questions. They were always eager to hear about how I was doing and never failed to provide the encouragement that I needed to keep the wind in my sails! Hopefully, I will never need PT again, but if I do I know where I’ll be going for another successful experience.
Sally Lebro, Syracuse, NY 1/3/06
I feel much better since I began therapy at OPT, physically and mentally. The staff, techniques, clientele, gym cleanliness, and professionalism are all excellent. My PT, Lauris, is a wonder, and I’ve had a few PTs in the past 15 years. I recommend him to anyone.
Cheryl T., Syracuse, NY 12/2/05
I found the staff to be friendly and welcoming from my very first visit. Having all the gym equipment available to work with was very convenient to assist in strengthening my back; however, I was also provided with the knowledge and exercises to continue therapy on my own which helped to speed my recovery. My pain was greatly decreased and my flexibility increased in only a few weeks. I have had other physical therapy sessions, and found Onondaga Physical Therapy gave me a much faster recovery in a very personal and friendly atmosphere.
Pat. McNamara, Syracuse, NY 11/22/05
I was extremely happy with all aspects of my treatment. Garry’s skill, compassion and knowledge of treatment options left me feeling very confident in his care. And his sense of humor often helped me over the rough spots.
Cindy was a pleasure to deal with. She truly cares for the patients she deals with. She treats everyone with kindness and respect and makes them feel welcomed.
I was able to achieve everything in therapy that I wanted, and it helped me so much that I continue the routine Garry taught me 3 times a week.
I was so pleased with my treatment that I referred my sister-in-law to Garry, and she was very glad that I did. Thanks, Lauris, for all the help you gave me.
Louise M., Baldwinsville, NY 11-22-05
Garry Campbell will meet your therapeutic needs……helpful, friendly, caring….the right choice for you!
Anna A. Cotter, Syracuse, NY 11/18/05
You’re the best, Lauris!
Joe Michaels, Syracuse, NY 11/14/05
When I first went to physical therapy in January of 2005, I was very apprehensive as to what kind of therapy or pain I was about to encounter. Lauris set my mind at ease as he went through everything I would encounter in the future while I was there. Throughout the process I was always encouraged to do more but not to hurt myself. I enjoyed the therapy and learned how to keep the pain from my hip replacement down to a minimum. All the therapists at this facility were very knowledgeable in their field. They also would tell me not to overdo if they thought it would hinder my rehab process. I would not hesitate recommending this facility to my family and friends.
Gary. D. Winters, Syracuse, NY 11/14/05
When Dr. Zogby suggested I go to physical therapy for neck and shoulder pain, my first thought was since my husband was a patient at Onondaga Physical Therapy and achieved great results, why not me.
Since I already knew Garry (physical therapist) I decided to start my therapy with him. The first visit, he explained his plan of therapy and how this would help me. He started me out slow and gradually increased the routine always asking where the level of pain was. Once, Garry was so concerned regarding pain, he asked Lauris Rigdon (the owner) to come in and personally speak with me. NOW, if that is not dedication, what is? Garry is a very caring individual and always willing to go the extra mile if it helps his patients.
My whole therapy was a very positive experience. The pool has been so beneficial especially for pain and mobility of my neck and shoulder. I feel like we are a part of their team, even though we are no longer a patient of physical therapy. We are always greeted with a personal “Hi” and “how are you today!” That caring and concern is always there, which means so much to both of us.
Jean Polge, Syracuse, NY 11/14/05
I was advised by Dr. Zogby (orthopedic) to go to physical therapy for low back pain. On May 24, 2004 (1st appt), I walked into Onondaga Physical Therapy and was greeted by their staff.
I will admit on my first visit I was apprehensive not knowing what to expect, but Garry Campbell the physical therapist made me feel at ease. He explained what land & aquatic therapy would benefit me the most, rotating between the machines & pool. When I first started P.T. (which was designed for my particular problems), I was in pain and my muscles were very weak. Garry was very patient and understanding. In a very short time my condition had improved tremendously.
Garry is very dedicated to his profession and knowledgeable on all aspects of physical therapy. He is very personable and has your best interest at heart.
The exercise in the pool was and still is very beneficial to increase my stamina and minimize my leg cramps, and quite honestly, I would not be where I am today, without this skillful staff. I am so thankful I had this opportunity to be a part of this outstanding facility.
Louis Polge, Syracuse, NY 11/14/05
A great team of therapists, and a superb facility, including heated pool. I investigated other physical therapy facilities and, in my opinion, O.P.T. is by far the best. In short, O.P.T. is a complete physical therapy center staffed by a very caring, professional group of certified therapists.
John E. Hunt, Camillus, NY 11/14/05
Very knowledgeable, thorough and give you quality time as a patient, unlike other therapy clinics/shops.
Atmosphere is great, receptionist very upbeat and pleasant.
“Since day one I have noticed progress in my rehabilitation.”
Jim D., Memphis, NY 11/13/05
During my therapy episodes, I experienced consistency, competence and compassion. Karen, Sarah and Lauris were great and at all times helpful and professional.

I was fortunate to have Mary Smith as my physical therapist – my first! She listened and paid particular attention to the location and level of the pain. I was on the road to recovery when I had a setback causing me to start therapy from the beginning. Mary got me back on track! And now I’m as good as new.
K.P., Baldwinsville, NY
My treatment at Onondaga Physical Therapy was very successful. Mobility was almost back to normal and pain was completely gone. Garry Campbell is very professional in treatment and manner. I would recommend him to anyone.
Bruce R., Baldwinsville, NY
I was very pleased with my care and the physical therapist at Onondaga Physical Therapy in Baldwinsville. As a member of the fitness center there, I was able to receive my PT, use their machines and pool to fit my schedule. Garry gave me great care and instruction as an older patient, if I had forgotten to do a procedure correctly, he would kindly show me. His written information was very helpful. What Garry helped me with was a great help to relieve my left neck and left lateral head pain.
Carol R., Baldwinsville, NY
In July 2008 I had an accident that resulted in multiple fractures in my lower left leg. I was not able to put any weight on that leg until the end of September 2008 when I saw the surgeon and he released me to start some physical therapy. Where to go for this physical therapy? I asked several friends “Where the best place to go for physical therapy?” Almost all of them told me that Onondaga Physical Therapy was the place to go. Turns out that my brother-in-law had done PT there and he also recommended it to me. They also all told me that I would be satisfied with the results at the end of my therapy sessions. The therapy sessions were two fold, in that some were done in the pool at the facility and others (land therapy) were done in the office and on the spa floor using some of the gym equipment available to members of the spa. At the end of September I started PT at Onondaga Physical Therapy with Garry Campbell, PT. When I started I was not able to put any weight on my leg. Actually, I was still wearing the “Big Black Boot” when I wasn’t in bed sleeping. With the help of all the PT’s at OPT I have been able to regain almost 100% of the mobility in my leg and ankle by the end of December. Needless to say, I am very pleased with the results from my PT at Onondaga Physical Therapy. Thank you Garry, Mary and Lauris, I truly believe that without all the help and assistance of everyone associated with Onondaga Physical Therapy I wouldn’t be walking now and “yes, Garry, I am even “dancing” again”. Thank you all
Ross P., Baldwinsville, NY
My experience at OPT was ideal. I received individual attention where my questions were always answered in a knowledgeable and professional manner. I feel I was able to recover from my injury and even recover stronger because of the staff’s encouragement along the way. After attending physical therapy for alternate injuries, I would highly recommend OPT over anyone else. My road to recovery was much easier because I attended sessions at OPT. Personable staff, excellent facilities and superior rehabilitation made my recovery unparalleled.
Erinn Bariteau, Camillus, NY
I am very happy with the physical therapy I received at Onondaga Physical Therapy. The therapist who worked with me was very concerned about my case. Before he began to work with me, he assessed my situation and set out to help me. He assured me he could help me and worked with me patiently. I was encouraged to continue and found, as time went along, that I was much more mobile and able to do things that had become impossible without pain or headaches. Over a period of time, I was able to “graduate” from the course of treatment and work on my own in the facility. Thank you so much!

Thank you!

I have used Onondaga Physical Therapy twice. Everyone is always nice and very helpful. My husband goes there and has been helped also. We both would recommend your place to anyone.

Mary M., Syracuse, NY 2/26/07
Kathy A. Froio, Phoenix, NY 1/15/07
Mary Kay Hueber, Baldwinsville, NY 12/29/06
