Erin Malay, PT, DPT

Why did you chose this profession?
As a junior in high school, I suffered a stress fracture which sidelined me from running for several months and forced me into Physical Therapy. I admired the work that my therapist did and got back to running before the season was over.  When applying for colleges the next year, I decided to look more into this career.  I feel very lucky to enjoy going to work everyday; I really do love what I do!

Interests:
Professionally, I enjoy treatment and prevention of Running Injuries, SI Joint/ Low Back Dysfunction, Core Strengthening, Injuries to the Foot and Ankle, and Gait Analysis of the Runner and Walker.
Personally, I'm an avid competitive runner and enjoy gardening, reading, watching SU sports and spending time with my husband, Dan and our daughter, Meghan.

Did you know?
As a freshman in high school, I fractured both of my wrists after falling backwards over a hurdle on the track.  I was placed in two casts for 8 weeks- No fun!

Favorite Food?
Mexican!

What do you find most challenging or compelling about your job?
The most challenging part of my job is treating a patient who suffers from chronic pain and has been treated by many different practitioners and is now coming to me for another opinion.  Although challenging, it is very rewarding when we are able to provide relief to that patient through our manual therapy skills and expertise in movement re-education and exercise.
