Douglas P. Fye, PT, DPT OCS CKTI
Doctor of Physical Therapy: Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions, Boston, MA
Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy: Boston University Sargent College, Boston, MA
Why did you choose this profession?
I chose being a Physical Therapist instead of pursuing medicine (surgery) because of being able to spend more direct time working with patients and making immediate positive differences in people's lives. I first encountered Physical Therapy after having a knee injury playing JV Football in high school which lead to doing a volunteer internship Senior Year at Upstate Hospital. I've been hooked ever since.
What do you believe is your best quality as a practitioner?
Being very caring and compassionate with applying my clinical experience and knowledge.
Did you know?
I was honored with receiving the CNY Physical Therapist of the Year in 2015
I personally enjoy most sports (whether playing or watching) especially skiing, running (Marathons), Adventure Racing, triathlons, mountain biking , rock climbing and hiking. I support the Orange (SU) and Syracuse Silver Knights - now known as Utica Club Men's Pro Soccer. Being with and spending time with my family, our dog (the "third" child) and newest addition of first granddaughter is most important.
Professionally, I like treating musculoskeletal injuries and surgeries. I have worked in numerous settings over my past 29 years in practice (Administratively and clinically) from Acute Care large and small hospitals, private practice, short term rehab, home care and outpatient settings from the East to the West Coast (Los Angeles). The knee, hip, shoulder and hand are a few of my favorite physical areas to treat.
