Courtney A. Ryer, PT, DPT
Master of Physical Therapy: Nazareth College, Rochester, NY
Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences: Nazareth College, Rochester, NY
Why did you choose this profession?
I had always been interested in healthcare and knew I wanted a career where I could help people; I just wasn’t sure what profession. My mom, an Occupational Therapist, suggested Physical Therapy because it seemed to fit my personality and interests. In high school, I took a class (New Visions) where I shadowed a variety of healthcare professionals and loved everything about PT! What an inspiring and rewarding career!
What do you believe is your best quality as a practitioner?
I promote an uplifting atmosphere by creating a balanced environment. We work together to help you return to the activities you love through encouragement, hard work, commitment and of course, fun!
Interests and Hobbies?
I love anything outdoors: hiking, running, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, camping, gardening, and the beach! I enjoy spending as much time as I can with friends and family. I always have a blast spending time with my husband, Chris, whether it’s dining out, cooking at home, watching a movie or going to a sporting event.
Did you know?
I was a travel physical therapist for the past 5 ½ years and worked in many states including: New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maryland, North Carolina, Texas, Arizona and Hawaii!
What do you find most interesting about your job?
No two patients are the same! I may receive the same diagnosis from a doctor, but based on age, medical history, past surgeries and home environment, every plan of care is unique to meet individual needs and goals.
